Purpose

The Trinity-Pilgrim UMC Prayer Circle was started in 1987.  At that time, there was only one circle, which probably had 7 or 8 people.  As time went on we added another circle, but as more people asked to join the circle we increased them to three.

People request prayers for those who need the prayers, and these names are put on each of the now functioning three circles.  The first caller is to call the name next to her, then it is passes on to the next one on the circle, until it finally gets to the last name.  The last name on the circle has to call back the beginner to be sure it has completed the circle correctly.  There is a follow-up of the prayers so we know how they have been answered.  If the person has recovered, or passed away then the name is dropped from the circle.  During the year we have had as many as 77 requests.
