Paul and Roxanne Webster are United Methodist missionaries bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the Lunda-Ndembo people of south central Africa. Both natives of Wisconsin, the Websters were commissioned by the General Board of Global Ministries in 1992. They direct agricultural and family health projects in Musokatanda (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Mujila Falls (Zambia).
The focus of the Webster's work is to improve nutrition, health, family relationships and social justice through The Musokatanda site includes a secondary, agricultural school and agricultural cooperative. They utilize a holistic approach which incorporates social, spiritual and economic concerns into a unified methodology for rural community development. They live with the people and work with local United Methodist pastors, lay leaders and conference staff. Spiritual asects of their work include emphasis on John Wesley's doctrines on social justice, God's desire for economic development and prosperity of His people. They pursue affordable and appropriate technologies in their animal traction projects, dairy herd management, goat milking and management, rabbitry and chicken raising. The Websters' goal is to let the people know that God has given them all of the resources they need to live well here on earth. They liken the resources of central Africa to the promised land of the ancient Hebrews, a "land flowing with milk and honey."
The Websters summarize their work in this way: "We believe in a humanity in control of its destiny. God has provided the resources; it's up to His people to utilize them for the benefit of all."
